Dance Curriculum

While embracing the liberal arts curriculum and the achievement of general education requirements, the core curriculum of study in dance focuses on three broad areas of development within the two degree options:
- Studio Technique includes progressive levels of study in Ballet and Modern Dance [I-IV] with additional study in World Dance Forms, Variations, Pointe, African Dance, Jazz.
- Creative Studio Study includes Improvisation and a sequential study of Choreography I - IV with additional work in Independent Choreographic Projects.
- Dance Theory & Academics includes a spectrum of required study in Music for Dance, Dance History, Kinesiology, Movement Analysis, Dance Pedagogy, and Seminars.
Additional areas of focused study are required within each of the specific degree options.
- Dance Studies provides for focused Elective Study leading to the development of an Independent Student Project.
- Dance Performance includes additional work in Choreography and Performance leading to the creation and performance of original Choreographic Projects.
