Theatre Scholarships

All scholarship monies are subject to continuation of state and university funding.

Green and Gold Talent Scholarship

  • Awarded to artistically talented non-Florida residents
  • Number Available: Varies
  • Amount: $12,000 ($3,000 per year for four years) for tuition at USF.
  • Eligibility: All declared theatre majors.
  • Application Procedure: Automatic with USF application.
  • Decision Date: Applicants for admission to USF by January 2 who submit credentials by February 1 will be given priority consideration. Students who apply after January 2 will be considered on a funds available basis.

Talent Based Assistantships

  • Number Available: Variable
  • Amount: Variable up to $750 per semester (fall and spring).
  • Eligibility: All declared theatre majors.
  • Application Procedure: Designated by chair and faculty.
  • Decision Date: Variable throughout the year.

Service Award

  • Number Available: Variable
  • Amount: Variable up to $400 per semester (fall and spring).
  • Eligibility: Sophomores and above, majors.
  • Application Procedure: Apply thru Dept of Theatre by end of 3rd week of each semester.
  • Decision Date: Approx. 2 weeks after application deadline.

Shimberg

  • Number Available: 2
  • Amount: $1,000 per year
  • Eligibility: Upper division majors.
  • Application Procedure: Apply thru Dept. by end of 3rd week of fall semester. Letter of application, resume, audition/portfolio.
  • Decision Date: Approx 2 weeks after application deadline.

Covington

  • Number Available: (1 every 4th year; none in 99/00)
  • Amount: $1,000+ per year, 1/2 awarded in Fall, 1/2 awarded in Spring
  • Eligibility: Upper division majors.
  • Application Procedure: Apply thru Dept beginning the 3rd week of feb through early March.Letter of application, resume, audition/portfolio.
  • Decision Date: Approx 2 weeks after application deadline.

Cole/Krewe

  • Number Available: 1
  • Amount: $1,000 per year (fall)
  • Eligibility: Upper division majors.
  • Application Procedure: Apply thru Dept. by end of 3rd week of fall semester.
  • Decision Date: Approx 2 weeks after application deadline.

*Florida Theatrical Association

  • Number Available: 4
  • Amount: Up to $1500 per year.
  • Eligibility: Upper division majors.
  • Application Procedure: Designated by chair and faculty.
  • Decision Date: Variable.
    This scholarship is not guaranteed annually. The department must reapply and the amounts vary.
    This is a grant in the Department through the Florida Theatre Association, a non university agency.

Playmakers Scholarship

  • Number Available: 1
  • Amount: 1,000 per year(Fall)
  • Eligibility: Senior, performance student majors.
  • Application Procedure: Apply thru Dept. by end of 3rd week of fall semester.
  • Decision Date: Approx. 2 weeks after application deadline.
