Dance Minor Course Requirements

The Dance Minor is designed to provide students with a scope of experiences in dance, which includes studio technique, creative studio studies and dance theory. The student seeking a Dance Minor should arrange to meet with the academic advisor in dance.

Studio Technique (10)

Select 10 credits from the following:

DAA 2205  Ballet I 2
DAA 3208  Ballet II 3
DAA 3209  Ballet III 3
DAA 4211  Ballet IV 4
DAA 2105  Modern I 2
DAA 3108  Modern II 3
DAA 3109  Modern III 3
DAA 4111  Modern IV 4
DAA 3502  Jazz Dance 2
DAA 4930  African Dance 2

Creative Studio Studies (4)

Select 4 credits from the following: 

* Pre-Requisite: Music for Dance I
** Pre-Requisite: Music for Dance II

DAA 3624  Dance Improvisation 2
DAA 3614  Choreography I* 2
DAA 4616  Choreography II** 2

Dance Theory (6) 

Select 6 credits from the Following: 

* Exit Requierement

DAN 2100  Introduction to Dance 3
DAN 4134  Dance History through the 19th Century * 3
DAN 4135  20th Century Dance History * 3

Courses counting toward the Dance Minor must be at a Grade C or better.
Dance Studio Courses may be repeated only once toward the Dance Minor.
