Semester Program Requirements and Application Process

Students should provide detailed information in the initial Application to give the selection committee the strongest possible indication of your candidacy. A letter of recommendation will be mandatory for all candidates applying to the program. Priority will be given to students who have at least three semesters of a college/university dance experience, along with a demonstration of high academic/creative/technical strength.  Students may also be required to interview remotely with the Program’s director, Michael Foley.

Students wishing to apply to the USF/DPSP must go through a multi-leveled application process toward final acceptance in the program.  Please be aware of the following dates:
  • An initial questionnaire (see Application) outlining the student’s technical, choreographic and intellectual capacity, along with a letter of recommendation from a faculty member detailing the student’s ability to handle and thrive in a rigorous semester-long study abroad program from the dance perspective is mandatory. This initial questionnaire is due by September 29, 2017.
  • All students will be notified of the committee’s decision by October 1, 2017 (or earlier).  Students who are accepted into the Program, will receive notification followed by instructions on how to apply to USF as non-degree seeking student, and then you will be directed to the USF Education Abroad website for the final application; current USF students who are accepted into the Program will be sent directly to the USF Education Abroad website.
  • October 8, 2017 is the deadline for non-USF students to apply to USF as a non-degree seeking student. There is a $30 application fee attached to this.
  • October 15, 2017 is the deadline for all approved students to register through USF’s Education Abroad website where USF will approve completed applications.
  • Students will need to commit to the Semester Program by October 22, 2017.
  • Students placed on the wait list for the Program will be informed of the selection process throughout the month of October if slots open up.  If slots do open, students will be encouraged to quickly move through the final application process to be on-track to go to Paris in January 2018.
