Auditions are not required to major in theatre, students need only to apply through admissions and declare in theatre. Auditions occur in the junior year for upper level acting courses & portfolio review for BFA design students.
For over 40 years, USF’s Theatre Program (TheatreUSF) has offered an exclusively undergraduate program for seriously interested students. Through its curriculum and production program, students have the opportunity to prepare for a professional career in the theatre or to continue their studies at the graduate level. Our program boasts intensive studies in the disciplines of performance, design and theatre arts.
The theatre faculty are recognized nationally and internationally in their disciplines and have professional certifications and affiliations. In addition to an outstanding faculty, a strong guest artists program exists, supported by over 3.8 million dollars in endowments from the British International Theatre Program (BRIT) and Holloway Endowed Chair Fund. Additional endowment support for programming and scholarship is made available through Theatre Honors Program and the rotating Burdines Distinguished Guest Artist Fund. The full time faculty and guest artist residencies provide students with the creative opportunity to work with leading theatre professionals in classes, on innovative production approaches to the classic repertoire and in the development of new plays.
